JULY 2009 Priorities

We should not be too concerned with our fame or what people say about us, either bad or good because in reality, fame could not make any serious difference to one’s life. Therefore, we should have our priorities right, and seek what is truly of value, what is truly of meaning to our life not just mere fame, which is, after all, empty sounds.

I am back home in Mongolia after a wonderful trip home to America. Thank you all for being such great people: it was amazing to see all of you, visit with you, be in my wonderful sister's wedding and share so many great experiences with each of you. I feel very lucky to have been able to fit in so many incredible things during my visit.

The first in a two-part project regarding stress reduction in our hospital has been approved by Peace Corps Mongolia (which you can read more about here) and I am currently reviewing the second part of the project which will be a meditation center in our hospital. I just attended the 70th anniversary and opening of a new countryside hospital in Sukhbaatar soum with my Health Department staff, which as a great experience. The summer is a more relaxed time in Mongolia, but it is still moving quickly. I suppose that happens when you are having fun.

This month I am writing out my priorities, principles and values. I have been doing this for years and I hope to condense all of that knowledge into a simple mission.
